ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9

* Duty Schedule for today: Stoneback, Mrs. Johnson, Gardner, Woodrich




Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held this tonight 9 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. and tomorrow morning from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. Parents do not have scheduled times. Just invite them to come to the school during those hours and meet with any of your teachers. Students do not have school tomorrow because of conferences and no school on Monday because of the holiday. Enjoy your four day weekend.





Activity Announcements:
The Jostens Rep will be here Wednesday, October 15 at Prime Time to hand out class rings and accept senior cap and gown orders.

NHS will meet Tuesday October 14th in Mr. Dallas's room.

Anyone signed up for the November Hut trip needs to see Mr. Dallas immediately.

All Key Club members need to turn in their dues by Tuesday, October 14 to Meri Nimz or Mr. Johnston.

Mrs. Surage needs WORRRMS members to do recycling asap!

* Duty Schedule for today: Stoneback, Mrs. Johnson, Gardner, Woodrich


Students: Don’t forget that Freshman and Juniors (ONLY, only only) report to school at 7:40 a.m. tomorrow for testing. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Bring your calculator and #2 pencils. Juniors bring a photo id. Sophomores and seniors do NOT report to school tomorrow!

FYI: For those of you who might be a bit confused, Thursday is a FULL (normal) day of school.

New Prime Time required study sheets will be passed out during first block today. Because of the testing schedule and exam schedules, 9th grade students will need to attend today and then Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. 10th and 11th graders will need to attend today and Thursday of this week, and Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.



Activity Announcements:

To raise money and community awareness for breast cancer research, our Manitou Springs High School volleyball program will host "Think Pink" night tonight at the Salida vs Manitou Springs home volleyball game. Women who have been affected by this horrible disease and have lived to tell about it will be honored guests at the games, as well as facts concerning breast cancer will be read during timeouts to help educate people. There will be a donation bucket at the door as people enter the game that night. This is not the first time the Lady Mustangs have raised money for breast cancer awareness, and we want to thank them all for their continued efforts in bringing awareness to this tragic disease. The MSHS volleyball team is inviting all students, staff and community members to wear pink for tonights games.


Congratulations to Lindsey Wagner for being selected to be a part of the 2008 Tri-Peaks League Honor Band.



COUNSELING ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Wednesday morning is the deadline to turn your CHAPTER K PEO order form for the annual nut sale.

Juniors call still register for this PSAT this week. See Mrs. Penman in the counseling office.

The representative from the Concordia Colleges will be available in the counseling office TODAY during Prime Time. UCCS ROTC will be available during Prime Time on Thursday. All students are welcome to attend.

Governor Ritter has announced that all United States and State of Colorado flags will be flown at half staff at all state facilities, today, Monday, October 6, 2008 in memory of former State Patrol Chief John Dempsey, a 30 year veteran of the force, who died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from the complications of a long illness.

Staff: We will have a faculty meeting today at lunch to discuss several issues that are rapidly approaching. Please bring your own lunch and scurry to the Media Center asap as we have lots to cover. Students: The Media Center will be closed at lunch today.

Lifetouch will be here today from 8:30 -10 a.m. for anyone that has not had a picture taken.

Congratulations to the following band members that auditioned and were selected to be a part of the 2008 Tri-Peaks League Honor Band: Chelsea Gibas on FLUTE; Mari Tanabe, Shelby Carpenter, and Elisabeth Harmor on CLARINET; Mike Rollman on BASS CLARINET; Harrison Smith on ALTO SAX; Zach Brown on TRUMPET; Sophie Thunberg on FRENCH HORN; Jake Wood, Doug Pretzer, and Sami Starkey on TROMBONE; Jenny Peek and Sophie Thunberg on EUPHOINIUM; Ben Foorman and Dan Rodgers on PERCUSSION.

Congratulations to our Frosh Volleyball team for finishing 6th place in the 4A/5A tournament on Saturday.

Congratulations to our Football team on their huge win over Dolores Huerta this weekend.
