April is Genocide Awareness Month brought to you by your Peace Jam group. Today’s fact is: Pol Pot: This man was born into a farming family. He had two sisters who lived and worked in the royal palace as ballet dancers. In his schooling he was known to work hard and receive good marks. He was also known as a gentle, polite man. In his later schooling he studied French at an elite school, but did not receive his high school diploma. Nevertheless, he received a scholarship to study radio-electronics in Paris. While in school he traveled to Yugoslavia to help build roads. After a couple months he became interested in Marxism and his grades began to drop. He lost his scholarship and returned to his home country.
The answer to yesterday’s fact was Milosevic.
And Ms. Wendy’s Friday joke is: Why did the Easter Bunny go to school? To get "Egg-ucated".

April is Genocide Awareness Month brought to you by your Peace Jam group. Today’s fact is: Milosevic: This man was born to a former Orthodox priest and a communist schoolmistress. Throughout his life, both his parents and his uncle committed suicide, starting with his father, then his mother, then his uncle. In high school this man met the women who he would one day marry and who would be the mother to his two children. She was a strict Marxist and was the main force behind her husband’s actions.
The answer to yesterday’s fact was Stalin.

You should be parking on the hill coming up from the Middle School, or on the Middle School driveway on the side opposite from the stadium heading away from the Middle School building. Thank you for your cooperation.
There is a mandatory Junior Class meeting today at Prime Time in the New Gym. ALL Juniors are required to attend. Tomorrow there is a mandatory Senior class meeting at Prime Time in the Old Gym. ALL Seniors must attend. Can’t be there? See Mr. Cody!

The Robotics club competed in the FIRST Robotics Colorado Regional Tournament over break. The team successfully designed and built a robot in 6 weeks for the competition and overcame many challenges at the event to compete and win one of their qualifying matches against other schools with more experience and larger teams. Congratulations B.A.N.G.

April is Genocide Awareness Month brought to you by your Peace Jam group. Today’s fact is: Stalin: This man’s father was an abusive and hard-drinking. His father left him when he was five years old. A smallpox epidemic left his face scarred and pitted, and a case of blood poisoning caused his left arm to grow shorter than his right He was considerably smaller than his peers. However, he received excellent grades and distinguished himself in the school choir. He loved reading and exploring the outdoors. He graduated near the top of his class with virtually no signs of the life he would lead.
The answer to yesterday’s fact is Hitler. Congratulations to the many students who knew the answer. Very impressive.

Today the School to Work Alliance Program is holding a Job Fair at Prime Time in the Old Gym. Students need to bring their resumes, information and enthusiasm with them. Guys and gals, this is a fantastic opportunity to find job prospects, especially in these tough economic times – so plan to visit all of the vendors!

April is Genocide Awareness Month brought to you by your PeaceJam group. Each day we will be reading facts about different genocide leaders without giving you their name. At the end of the day, the name of the leader will be announced! Today’s fact is: Hitler: This man grew up in the middle class with a loving mother and strict, frugal father. As a boy he attended three different grade schools since his family moved around a lot. He always received good marks and was commended for good leadership. He attended a secondary school known for math and science. He did not enjoy his schooling and he had to repeat a semester. He wished to become an artist, but his father felt differently. At the age of 16, after his father died, he dropped out of school. Two years later he applied to an art school in Vienna and was denied. In 1907 his mother, the only person he felt cared for him, died of breast cancer.
